Bob Fernandes began his musical experiences at a very early age listening to his father and grandfather play accordion.
While his father was not a schooled musician and could not read music, he played both accordion and piano by ear. Bob would
also listen in on his sister at her piano lessons at home. Bob was soon playing piano by ear and spent lots of time listening
and figuring out tunes.
While in school
he began formal music studies by playing trumpet and singing in the choir. By the age of fifteen, Bob was already singing
with local bands on the weekends. By the time he was a senior in high school he was performing steadily sometimes as much
as five nights a week and he also began studying voice at the University of Massachusetts.
Upon high school
graduation, Bob enrolled as a music education major at U. Mass.and earned his bachelor of music degree cum laude. He went
on to teach high school music for the next twenty years before becoming a public school administrator, a job he now holds.
Over the years, Bob has performed at hundreds of night clubs, parties and weddings with area bands such
as White Satin, Prestige, A Touch Of Class,
Time Machine, Bitter Suite, and Impulse.
He is a founding member of After Five Entertainment and still maintains an active performance schedule with various acts on
the local music scene.
